Korean Flower Boy Band FTISLAND, who will come to Taiwan again in December for a concert; before the concert, they specially took time off in Seoul to grant TRENDY an exclusive interview. Now, come along with TRENDY and have a date together with the five treasures!

We ask for everyone to pay special attention to idol magazines and official fan clubs in the coming weeks; (everyone) will continue to provide news of the treasures! Of course, most importantly, everyone, please do not forget that on 15 and 16 December, FTISLAND will come to Taiwan for the concerts! 

Currently busy with promotions for the new album FIVE TREASURE BOX and preparations for their impending concert in Taiwan, FTISLAND specially took time out from their busy schedules and granted TRENDY this exclusive interview. Meeting FTISLAND again after a very long time, the members kept saying that because they wish to come to Taiwan and meet everyone again, they feel really excited! Even the busiest amongst the members, Hongki, who rushes to shoot a movie and MC for a music show, did his best to cutely say that he's so busy that he is a little tired, but his good mood was totally portrayed on his ever-smiling face!

A shooting process which is really 'HIGH' with laughter

Before the interview when the cover and individual shoots were taken, the treasures' good-natured rough-housing filled the venue with endless laughter. TRENDY also prepared a celebratory cake for FTISLAND member - Minhwan - whose birthday is in November, which was used as a prop during the shoot. But because of the boys' mischievous jokes, there were many instances where the shriek-inducing "cake-in-danger" incidents nearly happened. Thankfully, Minhwan's reflexes were fast, and the cake safely completed the shoot. And Seunghyun, who never misses a chance to practice his Chinese every time he sees the TRENDY team, suddenly spouted Chinese. This not only made the TRENDY team burst out laughing, the members also could not stop laughing. During Jaejin's individual shoot, he even had to stop the shoot because Seunghyun was too funny. And when Seunghyun and Jaejin joined hands to make jokes, they even managed to make the normally-calm Jonghun leader take a deep breath with difficulty and ask them both to quit fooling around!

Q&A time

Before the TRENDY team came to Seoul to interview FTISLAND, we gathered all the things that everyone wanted to say to FTISLAND or questions which they wished to ask the members on the official fan club. The response was very warm, so apart from conveying everyone's heartfelt messages, TRENDY also included the most popular and the most unique questions to ask the treasures in the interview.


－In December, FTISLAND will come to Taiwan again to hold a large-scale concert. This time, did the members prepare anything special which they want to give to everyone in Taiwan? 

HK: (laughs) This time, we prepared a lot which we want to do; and we also want to give everyone a different performance from before. Yeah... This time, we will pursue a style which is more rock. On the day of the concert, everyone, please feel it!

－The release of this album, FIVE TREASURE BOX, yielded great results not only in Korea, but also in Taiwan. Please introduce and promote this album a little! 

HK: We're really very thankful to the support from the fans, especially the warmth from the Taiwan fans. They have never let us down before, (so) we're very happy that the new album has yielded good results.
SH: This album holds a lot of our own creations: There are songs which I composed together with Minhwan and filled with lyrics from Hongki-hyung. We hope that you will listen to each and every one of the songs.
JJ: Our title song this time, I Wish, has a starting which is full of Latin-style charm, but once you get to the turning-point of a chorus, it is a style with a different sort of charm. Together with the lyrics, which speak of rather realistic emotions, it is a very attractive song, and one which I most recommend. I hope everyone likes it and supports us!
MH: I really recommend Paper Plane. This should be a type of song of a new challenge. After listening to it, your mood will be good, and it's also a song which is more enjoyable the more you listen to it, a song which you will want to keep on listening to.
HK: LIFE, which has a strong rhythm and was created by Jonghun and I, is the one which I most want to recommend to everyone to listen to. Please feel the charm of this song!
JH: Yes...... U, which I composed, didn't receive much good comments from the members, but this song is full of my thoughts which I want to express to the fans. I ask for everyone to support. (pouts)

－FTISLAND, who has been to Taiwan many times, if you have the chance, will you consider coming to Taiwan for a 'LONG STAY'? 

SH: Although I've gone to Taiwan many times, I've not had the chance to go around and take a look. Taiwan's weather is warm, so I really want to go!
HK: (The question) is asking whether you want to go for a 'LONG STAY', not whether you want to go for a holiday!
SH: (sudden enlightenment on his face) Ah...... During the 'LONG STAY', I can also go for a holiday, haha~
JJ: Everytime we go to Taiwan, whether it's a meet-and-greet or a concert, we can always feel the Taiwan fans' strong warmth and their hearts which support us with overflowing love. So if we have a chance to come to Taiwan for a 'LONG STAY', then we should, in that time, have performances non-stop in Taiwan!
HK: What a tough challenge!
JJ: Hongki-ssi, let's challenge it together and see!
MH: Of course we have to go. It'll be good to bring my mother along; I think she'll like Taiwan too!
JH: If there's a chance, of course I want to go. Challenging and learning new things, experiencing the local life, eating the local food in Taiwan should be a very good experience.
HK: Previously, we also did a 'LONG STAY' in Japan. To be honest, it's very harsh. You have to work hard at learning the language; you also have to overcome the many situations which arise due to cultural differences. But it's also because we learnt many things, got to know many local friends, gathered precious life experiences, received many chances to go on Japanese variety shows and act in Japanese dramas, etc, that we have such good results in Japan. So if there was a similar chance to go to Taiwan, even if we know that hardship is hard to avoid, I would still want to give it a shot in Taiwan!

－A while ago, FTISLAND specially went to the hospital to visit a Malaysian fan, giving that fan a tremendous amount of encouragement, and then made the other fans feel touched. Can you talk about this matter? 

HK: That Malaysian fan came to Korea in order to have her operation and treatment, and we just had the chance to go and visit her. Although she is of a young age, she has already gone through many treatment operations. At first, when we went to visit her, we were actually a little worried. We couldn't stop thinking about how to cheer her on and encourage her, so we kept saying a lot of things which are happy and funny. But this friend, she's a lot more outgoing and optimistic than what we thought. Not only is her face always with a smile, her eyes are also full of sparkle: This made us feel sorry and also very touched. We hope she can continue to push on!

(Although the other members didn't say anything and just nodded their heads, their faces revealed smiles and their eyes became warm.)

－Maybe there is no way to personally go to the sides of every fan and give them encouragement, but do the members have anything to say to the fans who wish to receive your encouragement? 

HK: Finding something which you really like and want to do is the most important. Perhaps right now, we're not all that perfect or have attained our dreams, but we are still persistently working on the type of music we like. Of course, you'll definitely experience hardship or difficulties, but you've gotta continue moving towards the direction of your dreams. No matter what, if you don't give up, you will definitely reap results. So no matter what huge hardship and difficulty you meet, always remember, work hard a little more, and good things will happen!

FTISLAND Choi Jonghun is revealed, on Bing, to be behind Ju Ji Hoon's piano-playing.

Recently, the announcement that the memorable passionate piano-playing of Ju Ji Hoon on SBS weekend drama 'Five Fingers' was by FTISLAND member Choi Jonghun has grabbed much attention.

In the 9th single, "Polar Star", which is to be released in Japan, he intends to present the best of his self-made songs, "Beautiful World", a song better than ever known amongst the completed music singles ever prepared before.

Choi Jonghun said, "This is the first time I've had to match a piano accompaniment; I wrote the ballad seriously and so that was how Beautiful World came about to be. I envisioned the melody while thinking of a woman who is loving and beautiful." with a romantic look.

With plugged-in earphones together with fellow member Lee Jaejin in the waiting room, they listen to music with a look which reminds one of a pictorial. Lee Jaejin said about his self-written song, "폴링 포 유(Falling for You)", which is included in this single, "This is a song of which I envisioned and wrote the melody I got from inspiration on the acoustic guitar at home, expressing a heart of not being able to reach the woman I love", henceforth raising the expectations (of the public).

Meanwhile, FTISLAND's 4th regular Korean album activities have ended, and their 9th Japanese single "Polar Star" is slated to be presented.

Host: A singer who can sing well...

HK: Thank you.

Host: You act too. Talk while you're eating... When you are shooting the movie, you'll be hungry, right? You can't eat well, right?

HK: No. The first time when I went to the shooting, I was shocked. I ate really well: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper. Because I ate well for every meal, so it was impossible for me not to grow fat, and then the meal vans will come... That's why the movie actors don't shoot dramas!!!

TOPIC... on Hongki's worries

Host: Does Hongki have any worry?

HK: There are some questions about my future... About the type of music which I really want to do. I'm a little confused. I'm thinking whether musically, we're currently stuck in a second wave of rough period.

Host: What caused you to think this?

HK: About that... Now, we're a band, but I have the music type which I like. In Korea, you have to move with the flow. But I like to do the type of music which I want. If I continue following like this, in future, insisting on my type of music will become very difficult. I want to change my image bit by bit. With this kind of thinking, I guess I still need to continue working hard.

Host: Then the music which FTISLAND is doing now, isn't that the type of music you want?

HK: It's not my dream type of music.

Host: What is your dream type of music?

HK: I like strong punk rock, this type of rock music. I want to master the in-between of an idol and a band. But this is very difficult.

Host: Then the company needs to know; the members' thoughts are also important. Will you discuss this amongst the members?

HK: We often discuss this. We also talk to the company, saying we want to do our own music. Once, we had already released our self-made songs in Japan, but we didn't in Korea. Because in Japan, even if the potential of the song is not flawless, Japan will do it with us, scrutinize the song and give us many learning opportunities. But in Korea, we don't have that time, and we don't have that chance. I feel that it's very tough, even if we're doing activities in both Japan and Korea, doing music of different styles.

Host: Hongki, from hyung's point of view, you're very smart. Right now, isn't Mr CEO listening? Didn't you also earn a lot of money? Take it out from your own pockets and do it! Now, isn't the computer very advanced? If you have the heart to do it, you can do it slowly at home too.

HK: After completing it, I can also post it on the net.

TOPIC... on exposing Minhwan

HK: Although we never made songs and released them on the net, something that happened which is our drummer Minhwan went through a very tough period. Because there were too many rumours, he actually uploaded a video of his back when he's playing the drums.

Host: Ah, (rumours like) this person is fake-drumming or something? He feels that he's very wronged?

HK: Minhwan felt too wronged, he hated it and even specially covered his face in order not to be identified. With the members' help, in a messed-up way, he used his phone to take the video. After shooting the video, he even uploaded it online.

Host: Then the fans ought to know about it, right?

HK: They don't know. No one knows. No one said anything.

Host: How was the response?

HK: No one left messages. Wasn't it all hidden?

Host: Why does he need to hide it?

HK: He felt that it's shameful, so he hid it.

Host: Then why doesn't he show a little? Or write it down that he's the real one?

HK: To say that he himself is FTISLAND, isn't it embarrassing? "I'm FTISLAND's drummer. I'm drumming. Look!" Isn't this very comical?

FTISLAND已經成為了亞洲頂尖韓流團體，2007年‘愛情病’出道並做出了許多主打歌 例如‘雷’、‘譃愛’、‘愛愛愛’、‘狠狠地’、‘我希望’、等等。

我遇見了FNC ENTERTAINMENT韓勝皓代表而他在以愛逗舞團為主的K-POP行業推入了新種愛逗樂團並製造了目前韓流前鋒的FTISLAND。我向他聽取了他們的過去、現在與未來。

“當時我從日本出差回來並看到年輕孩子們在那裡以樂團受到愛戴 然後就可以帶領樂團音樂。我就想了想，為什麼我們沒（樂團文化）？就如別人因為從小熱愛舞蹈而成為舞蹈演唱者，我一邊製造了FTISLAND一邊想讓喜歡樂器的孩子成為一個樂團。我不知道當時是不是不知道恐懼的意思，不過我有信心他們會是“100％成功”，所以我都沒去考慮到失敗。”

就如他的信心，FTISLAND出道時獲得了爆炸性的愛戴並在種種音樂節目上以出道主打“愛情病”三連星期獲得第一名。當然，新人獎都歸他們了。不過那期間只是暫時的。FTISLAND跟他們的不幸 渡過了很大很危險的時期。

想著這一切，他說“以首張專輯獲得大發真的很難 不過他們連續以‘愛情病’跟‘雷’做得很棒。然後因為第二專輯的軟弱回應，他們提早完成了活動並準備拍戲。但因為戲突然被取消，出現了無活動的空期。然後有位成員離開了而FTISLAND經歷了最艱難的時期。”

因為強大的艱難，FTISLAND在挫折後的回歸讓韓勝浩代表非常感動。

“一直想說他們如果不在亞洲站上前鋒他們就會無法生存，我們一直嘗試在海外出道而成果就是在韓國因為‘愛愛愛’再次獲得第一名，在日本ORICON排行榜第一名，還有武道館演唱會真的感動到我許多。我深深相信他們會做得很好但是看到事情都發生在我的眼前真的很刺激。”

他們確實是最頂級的韓流樂團不過因為FTISLAND是以愛逗樂團形象而出道，他們必須承受許多懷疑他們彈奏樂器的批評。關於這點，韓代表說，“其實有很多批評者說‘他們不會玩樂器’不過他們沒想過其實FTISLAND的技術退步了”還有“一位著名日本藝人曾在第一、二專輯預錄時稱讚過敏煥說‘他具有在任何國家成為最頂級（鼓手）的潛能’。”

接著“雖然現在誤解都沒了，但是以前的放送狀況就是只能讓樂團hand-sync演奏，觀眾對FTISLAND顯示了這門問題”還有“自然的，我認為在韓國建起一個樂團，他們必須穿著觀感衣裳而生活。我常常對他們說他們必須接受與享受它。他們在即將的未來裡會得到該屬的排名的。就因為如此，成員們在錄音時會自己彈奏樂器雖然沒人認得他們。”

是不是因為這個？人們對FTISLAND的態度正在改變。不像當初的批評偏見，他們對於FTISLAND演奏技術卓越進步表示了驚訝的反應。

“（經過了）許多演唱會跟錄音，我認為他們只能進步是一定的因為他們努力地練習。那沒有快捷方法也沒有回頭路。他們當然在韓國，也在亞洲有了許多發展 然後技術也就在當兒進步了許多。所以我們必須感謝有了很多觀感。如果他們無人氣，一年辦一次演唱會都會是難事。”

雖然他對列名為“壞蛋的第一個兒子”的FTISLAND給予許多愛，FTISLAND飯對韓代表表示失望 因為對後輩團體CNBLUE的不同待遇。

對於這點，他說“因為他們是公司的第一（藝人），一定只能出了很多差錯。我們才不過把FTISLAND那裡不足的給補貼在（CNBLUE）的活動裡不過我覺得飯們誤會了”並且加倍解釋說“不像其他藝人，FTISLAND想要更加自由 所以我們讓他們自己計畫自己的演唱會。不過如果有不足的地方，飯們就認為‘公司對他們不夠周到’。”

既然他經歷了那麼多以為了製造成功的韓流樂團FTISLAND，他對他們的目標想必也會很大吧。不過當我問起FTISLAND目標是什麼，韓勝浩意外地回答說“我要他們玩音樂玩得長長久久。”

“因為他們是我製作的第一個樂團，所以我認為如果他們用FTISLAND這個名字辦活動得很久很久，我會非常感恩。如果他們努力用功，不像舞蹈團，樂團可以繼續表演下去。所以即使他們在未來決定辦個人活動，我希望他們能繼續以FTISLAND辦活動。”


▶FTISLAND在韓勝浩代表眼力“意外的魅力

關於李洪基> “他非常喜愛小孩子。坦白說這是很意外的。因為他人很好動、很自在，我還以為他會覺得小孩子很煩人 但是我錯了。他常常對我抱怨 但是陪同我孩子玩耍的就是洪基。當我目睹他與我孩子玩耍時，我想到“他很善良，又擁有了跟孩子一般見識必須擁有的自在與善良”。”

關於崔鐘訓> “他的人很溫順而裝著很多眼淚。當大家挨罵時，都會是鐘訓在哭。如果我在罵人，如果看到鐘訓哭泣，即使我還有話想駡，他會讓我想要盡快結束。”

關於李在真> “飯們都知道 不過他對於工作與娛樂分的界限很清楚 也知道在任何場合怎麼去面對。雖然他看上去是很聽話的，但是讓人意外的是他會把心裡想說的話都說出來。我一直把他看成是幼小男孩但是有時會想說“他也變成男人了”。”


關於崔敏煥> “因為是忙內的關係 大家都似乎認為他很會撒嬌 但是他是最安靜穩重的一位。他會安安靜靜地守好自己的位置。真的沒很多像忙內的特徵。敏煥往後交女朋友時，可能我會因為他的態度改變而被嚇着吧？”

關於宋承炫> “我認為他是FTISLAND之中製造氣氛的那位。他善於交朋友。可能因為他是新成員 所以辛苦了他了，不過我認為他承擔得不錯。他是很單純很好的孩子。”
